Network Security

• Advising on firewall solutions specific to the clients' needs. Installing, configuring, and monitoring the firewalls. Creating firewalls from collections of free and custom tools.
• Researching, recommending, and implementing intrusion detection systems for clients of various network sizes and configurations.
• Creating a custom intrusion-detection system for a network of 400 hosts where internal as well as external attack is probable.
• Outsourced network management. (Monitoring a network for intrusion attempts and reporting on them as they occur, with followup and/or risk assessment.)
• Installing and securing UNIX hosts for use in high-risk environments.
• In consultation with clients, advising on network security policies and/or creating such policies from scratch.

Web Applications Engineering

• Creating a large database-driven project accounting system for projects with teams located across the globe.
• As part of a larger team, creation of a database-driven resume and job posting system. This was a national endeavor; the system had to be able to accommodate the load of jobs and resumes from the entire country.
• Via a secured intranet, creating systems to allow a client to update their web site without constant consultant intervention (and fees).
• Creating web applications to manage network services via a secured intranet for clients with little or no UNIX experience.
